34. MADRAS CAFE (2013)

MADRAS CAFE (2013)

Language       -       Hindi (India)
Genre             -       Political, War, Thriller
Director         -       Shoorjit Singh
*ing                -       John Abraham (Vikram Singh), Nargis Fakhri (Jaya Sahni), Raashi Khanna (Ruby)

PLOT
Vikram Singh is an Indian Intelligence officer who is deployed into the war-torn island of Sri Lanka to destabilize the rebel group and to pave way for a peaceful election to take place, but his calculations has gone wrong and causes a drastic turn of events. He determines to find the real cause behind it and led to the discovery of a big conspiracy to shake their neighbor, India.
Madras Cafe deals with the story of a conspiracy which results in the assassination of former Indian Prime-Minister. The movie was based on many true events and real life characters (RAW agents accepts the fact that the Madras head during that time was mole of CIA). It lacks pace in many places but still it will engage the viewers into the movie. Most of the shots were good and director tries to not add any cinematic element into the movie, background really helped to build emotions in various scenes. I felt that John Abraham could have been better in many scenes, but still it’s the carrier best movie, he had ever done.

Madras Cafe was not at all profitable but gained critical acclamation from various corners, if you like to watch some movie without the conventional Bollywood elements, then it’s a real pick.
