PLOT
British Ghost Writer Ewan
McGregor is hired to complete the autobiography of Mr Adam Lang, the former
Prime Minister of Britain. His predecessor Mike McAra has recently died in an
apparent drowning accident. Ewan goes to the Martha’s vineyard, in USA where
Lang is staying with his wife Ruth accompanied by his secretary Amelia Bly and
some bodyguards. Amelia instructs Ewan that he should not take the manuscript
prepared by McAra to outside as it may pose some trouble. Shortly after his
arrival, Richard Rycart, former foreign secretary accuses Lang of war crimes
during his tenure. Lang faces prosecution from International Court of Justice,
so he has to stay in US to prevent from being cuffed. He goes to White House to
seek their support, while Ewan was cleaning McAra’s room he finds an envelope
with Rycart’s number on it, later he finds some more serious stuffs and he
becomes in a position not to determine whether he is with good guys or not.
The Ghost Writer is an adaptation of a Robert Harris novel, The Ghost,
with the screenplay written by Polanski and Harris. This is one of the
critically acclaimed movie of Robert Polanski which gave him the Best Director
award in 60th Berlin Film Festival and 23rd European Film
Awards. The movie had a thrilling background to keep the viewers in their seat,
even cinematography was also good. The suspense at the end of this movie make a
quite different experience for everyone,for those who love thrillers this will
be a good suggestion as political thriller.
