31.ENEMY (2013)

ENEMY (2013)

Language       -       English (Canada)
Genre             -       Psychological-Drama
Director         -       Dennis Vileneuve
*ing                -       Jake Gyllenhaal (Adam Bell, Daniel Claire), Melanie Laurent (Mary), Sarah Gordon (Helen Claire)

PLOT
Adam Bell is an history professor who is having a same routine in his day to day life, and that is school-apartment-girlfriend. He has few, if any, real friends, He seems disconnected from his family. One day while watching a movie, he finds a double of him. He tries to find out more about him by visiting his advertising agency and there by contacting him. He is so curious to meet his double, Daniel Claire (the stage name for Anthony Claire), but he doesn’t know that his double is similar only in appearance not in personality, he is unaware of the role Anthony is going to play in Adam’s life.
I watched this one after Sicario (Sicario was released only in 2015), So I can feel the similar elements in this one also. This is one of the most controversial movie in this recent time, due to its bleak ending. There are so many theories about this movie in various blogs even some are saying that its, not a double but just the projection of his mind, but anyway it’s a thought provoking film. If a simple slow movie like Enemy was able to keep the viewers on their edge of the seat, its only due to the direction ability of Vileneuve. He used a background score which suits the mood of the movie, and the visuals take it into some other level. Jake Gyllenhaal as always steal the movie with his screen presence. Enemy earned five Canadian Screen Awards including best director for Vileneuve and best supporting actress for Sarah Gordon. It’s a must watch film and all claps goes to both Jake and Vileneuve.

30. KODI (2016)

KODI (2016)

Language- Tamil (India)
Genre     -   Political, Thriller
Director -   R.S Durai Senthil Kumar
*ing        - Dhanush (Kodi, Anbu), Trisha (Rudhra), Anupama (Muttai Malathi)

PLOT
Murugan is a deaf and dump who wants to be a master of speeches and an ardent supporter of his political party. When he is blessed with twin boys, he named one of them as Kodi (meaning Flag). Maran lit himself up while protesting against the opening of a chemical factory. The story now concentrates on the life of twins, one is Kodi, a rough and tough daring youth in politics giving energetic speeches while other is Anbu is a college lecturer and pacifist.
Dhanush who produced R.S Durai Senthilkumar’s previous two films, “Ethir Neechel” and “Kakki Sattai” played dual roles for the first time, comparing with his last movie “Thodari”, this is a far better movie in every sense. The movie deals with the politics and love of both the twins. It will be a treat as both political and as masala. Dhanus once again proved his screen presence with punch dialogues and super fights. But like his other movies it lacks good songs and his dance pieces, even though the music was composed by Santhosh Narayanan (Soodhukavum, Madras, Kabali fame). Trisha made a good comeback in this movie. Anupama (Premam Fame) also made a grace perfomence even if she lacks the number of scenes.

JACK REACHER: NEVER GO BACK (2016)

Language- English (United States)
Genre     -  Action, Thriller
Director - Edward Zwick
*ing        - Tom Cruise (Reacher), Cobie Smulders (Major Turner)

PLOT
Jack Reacher comes to Washington D.C to have a date with major ‘Turner’. So, Reacher started to find the mystery behind all these.

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back was a 2016 action thriller by Edward Zwick. It’s a sequel to the movie Jack Reacher, comparing to the 1st part it was not a worth watching one. The director was not able to use Tom Cruise properly, moreover he looks so old in this movie. It lacks the pace, action, and background score for a thriller movie. It is always a common nature where the brand image of a well-known movie get deteriorated with the release of other parts.
