PLOT
Adam Bell is an history professor who is having a same routine in his day to day life, and that is school-apartment-girlfriend. He has few, if any, real friends, He seems disconnected from his family. One day while watching a movie, he finds a double of him. He tries to find out more about him by visiting his advertising agency and there by contacting him. He is so curious to meet his double, Daniel Claire (the stage name for Anthony Claire), but he doesn’t know that his double is similar only in appearance not in personality, he is unaware of the role Anthony is going to play in Adam’s life.
I watched this one after Sicario (Sicario was released only in 2015), So I can feel the similar elements in this one also. This is one of the most controversial movie in this recent time, due to its bleak ending. There are so many theories about this movie in various blogs even some are saying that its, not a double but just the projection of his mind, but anyway it’s a thought provoking film. If a simple slow movie like Enemy was able to keep the viewers on their edge of the seat, its only due to the direction ability of Vileneuve. He used a background score which suits the mood of the movie, and the visuals take it into some other level. Jake Gyllenhaal as always steal the movie with his screen presence. Enemy earned five Canadian Screen Awards including best director for Vileneuve and best supporting actress for Sarah Gordon. It’s a must watch film and all claps goes to both Jake and Vileneuve.
